• Flow max• Flow min• Mean flow• Heart rateAllergiesThe nasal skin and mucosa are often subject to allergicreaction. To evaluate micro-vascular blood flow of the skin, standard surface probes (TSD141, TSD146) are suitable. Toperform measurements on the nasal mucosa, use needleprobes (TSD144, TSD145) with the appropriate clamp.Irritants & InflammationEvaluate skin reactions resulting from hypersensitivityand inflammatory mediators. To measure micro-vascularblood flow on the skin surface, use the TSD140,TSD141 or TSD146 probes. To objectively quantify theflow changes resulting from inflammation, take areal-time measurement of the mean or median value ofthe LDF100C flow signal.Planted TissueFlaps and planted tissues typically exhibit changesin blood flow after the planting procedure. TheMP System can be programmed to controla visual or auditory alarm if the mean orpeak-to-peak blood flow signals fromthe LDF100C drop below a specified level. UseAcqKnowledge to isolate pulsatile signals andevaluate the peak-to-peak values in real time.Data AnalysisThe software will provide full on-line analysis ofpulsatile flow data for each cardiac cycle. Use theautomatic data reduction function to determine statisticalmeasurements over a user-defined time period.Data ReductionUse the data reduction functionto reduce large data files to amanageable size for furtherstatistical analysis. Select theappropriate measurements andenter the desired time period—thesoftware will automatically analyzethe data and enter the values intoa Journal file and display the dataas a new channel. Analyze bothprimary signals (such as bloodflow) and derived data (such asmax flow).• Max• Min• Mean• Std dev• Delta• Pk-Pk• Time of max• Time of minLaser Doppler Flow ProbesThe TSD140 series probes interface to the LDF100C laser Doppler flow module. All probes are MRI compatible (no ferrous parts). See page 78 for probe specifications.SURFACE PROBESDesigned for skin and exposed tissueblood flow monitoring. Made from blackDelrin®. The signal delivery fiber intersectsthe probe body at a right angle, makingthe probes easy to secure to the skin ortissue surface.NEEDLE PROBESDesigned for invasive and endoscopicblood flow monitoring of tissue. Madefrom medical grade stainless steel. Thesignal delivery fiber terminates straightinto the top of the needle, making theprobes easy to insert into tissue.TSD140 Cutaneous blood flow anywhere onthe skin surfaceTSD141 Chronic wound healing studiesTSD142 Micro-vascular skin blood flow inthe digits (i.e., Raynaud’s disease)TSD143 Small animal work, includingpost-operative monitoring (suturable)TSD146 Small animal work and generalclinical tissue surface monitoringTSD144TSD145Microvascular blood flow measurements.Typically positioned using amicromanipulator clamp over softtissues such as brain and muscle.Micro-vessel or micro-vascular bloodflow within skin, muscle, tumor andorgan tissues.
