DRIVE COMMAND SETREQUEST SENSE (03H)Table 39. Sense Key DescriptionsHEX SENSE KEY DESCRIPTION0 NO SENSE Indicates that there is no specific sense key information to be reported forthe designated logical unit. This would be the case for a successfulcommand.1 RECOVEREDERRORIndicates last command completed successfully with some recovery actionperformed by the Target.2 NOT READY Indicates that the logical unit addressed cannot be accessed. The errorcode bytes enable a system to determine if operator action is necessary.3 MEDIAERROR4 HARDWAREERROR5 ILLEGALREQUEST6 UNITATTENTION7 DATAPROTECT8 BLANKCHECKIndicates that the command terminated with a nonrecovered error conditionprobably caused by a media flaw or an error in the recorded data. ThisSense Key may also be returned if the Target is unable to distinguishbetween a flaw in the media and a specific hardware failure (Sense Key4H).Indicates that the Target detected an unrecoverable hardware failure whileperforming the command or during a self test.Indicates that there was an illegal parameter in the command descriptorblock or in the additional parameters supplied as data. If the LaserDrivedetects an invalid parameter in the command descriptor block, or in theadditional parameters, it terminates the command without altering themedia.Indicates that the removable media may have been changed or theLaserDrive has been reset.Indicates that a command to read or write the media was attempted on ablock that is protected from this operation. The read or write operation isnot performed.Indicates that the LaserDrive encountered a blank sector while reading or anonblank sector while writing. For a VERIFY command, this indicates thatthe LaserDrive encountered a blank sector during a Verify for written data(BLKVFY = 0) or a nonblank sector during a Verify for blank (BLKVFY = 1).9 Reserved ReservedA Reserved ReservedBABORTEDCOMMANDIndicates that the LaserDrive aborted the command. (Possibly due toreceiving an ABORT message.) The Initiator may be able to recover bytrying the command again.C EQUAL Indicates Media Scan condition parameters were satisfied.D - F Reserved ReservedAfter successful READ or WRITE commands, the Information Bytes give the Logical Block Address of thenext block to be read or the next sequential block not written. If an error occurs in processing the first blockof a command, the Information Bytes contain the Logical Block Address requested in the command. The Additional Sense Length specifies the number of additional sense bytes to follow. For the LaserDrivethis value is F7H.97653978 HPage 103
