GLOSSARYGLOSSARYThe glossary included in this section is intended to provide convenient access to state-of-the-artterminology as well as product-specific terminology. Presented in this glossary are terms, acronyms andabbreviations which apply to the optical disk drive technology as well as the 6000 product line and theentire set of documents for that product line. This means that, although some terms found in this glossarymay not be mentioned in this document, they do apply to the product line.ActuatorAdverse EnvironmentBusNOTEThe term LaserDrive is used to refer to the LD 6100, LF 6600 and LF 6602.The electromechanical device which positions the laser beam to access thedata on the media.Environmental conditions not in the range of specified limits.One or more conductors used for transmitting signals or power.Bus bits Bit 7 is the most significant. A functional unit that converts data from digital toanalog representation.The memory used for temporary storage of all data to and from the host plus alldata to and from the disk. This buffer allows the controller module to conductdata transfers with the host at an instantaneous rate that is different from thedisk rate.A sector containing a surface or imbedded irregularity.
