Starts at the foot <strong>of</strong> aclean slab some 15 feet left <strong>of</strong> the start <strong>of</strong> Mallory's Left-H<strong>and</strong> Route.(1) 50 feet. The slab is climbed in the centre, then on its righth<strong>and</strong>edge to a small grass ledge with a spike belay 10 feetabove.(2) 40 feet. The slab above the belay is climbed to a large ledge<strong>and</strong> belay on the left.(3) 40 feet. Traverse left over ledges <strong>and</strong> climb either the steepcrack or, farther left, the steep edge <strong>of</strong> the wall.ESKDALEESK BUTTRESSSATISFACTION85 feet. Verv severe. First ascent 30th May,1959. P.R., F. Carroll. Goes from pitch 5 <strong>of</strong>Frustration up the natural line <strong>of</strong> continuation.(1) 55 feet. Climb the crack for about 20 feet, then traverse leftout onto the exposed buttress until upward progress ispossible. Move back right to spike belay <strong>and</strong> poor stance.(2) 30 feet. Straight up the groove above.ESKDALE NEEDLETHE LONG SIDE 70 feet. Hard severe. First ascent 15thNovember, 1959. D. Gregory, N. J. Soper,R. Collier. Starts at the foot <strong>of</strong> a wide crack on the Eskdale side <strong>of</strong>the Needle.
