Tower 5428 (PLATEAU)For the tower 5428, placed in the plateau, the sector chosen after the analysis forfrequency distribution are 0°, 30°, 60°, 90°, 210°, 140°, 270°. From the error analysis, it is found that during the period April-May the best sectoris 240° and the correspondent U30 is one of the highest; the worst sector is 0 andthe U30 has the lowest value (see table 6.5 and 6.6). An analog behavior is found fordata in the period November-December, when the best sector is 270° and the worstis 30°.Table 6.5: U30 in [m/s].Table 6.6: RMS errors.The similarity between RMS errors and wind velocity trends of the tower 5424(CLIFF) in the sector analyzed, is also confirmed in the tower 5428 (PLATEAU). Thethreshold value of the wind speed can still be identified in a range 3-4 m/s, whichseem to be a correct value to distinguish between low and high speeds.According to the analysis carried on the profiles of vertical velocity, it can be stated,as a general rule, that CFD can well reproduce experimental data when the thermaleffects are reduced, that means when the wind speed at 30 meters in the sector ishigher than 3-4 m/s. The choice of a single threshold value was not possible due tothe different behavior of the flow in the two measurement masts and in the twodifferent periods.98
