1.ABDESSALEM LAMARI .COMPUTER SIMULATION OF THE TRANSIENTSIN ASYNCHRONOUS MACHINES IN THE CASEOF SHORT-CIRCUIT AND CONNECTION TO NETWORKSAbstract:The mathematical models of the Asynchronous Electrical machines developed on the basis of theexperimental frequency-response characteristics are proposed in this paper. The latter ones arerecommended for investigating the transient processes occurring at short-circuits and connections ofthe electrical machines to the bus bars of electrical system taking account of their rotor speedchanges.Keywords:Asynchronous machines, frequency-response, networks connections, short-circuitINTRODUCTIONIt is a matter of familiar experience that themethods of frequency-response characteristics[1, 2, 8, 9, 13 and 14] have received wideacceptance in the scientific-research andengineering practical activity for investigatingand evaluating the transient conditions of theAC machines in electrical systems. The abovementioned methods make possible to carry outthe direct application of the experimental initialdata in the form of frequency-responsecharacteristics of the separate electrical systemelements or of the system as a whole. Such anapproach, in the special cases that the systeminternal structure is indeterminate, has muchpotential for yielding the more precisecalculations of the transient processes.The calculation technique for determining thetransients by the use of the frequency-responsecharacteristics of synchronous machine statoradmittance in the direct, Y d (js), and quadrature,Y q (js), axes or the circle diagram of an inductionmotor was proposed in [1,2,3 and 4]. Thegraphic-analytical methods for determining thearmature current and electromagnetic torque ofthe synchronous machine were developed in thecited monograph too. The methods beingconsidered allow carrying out more accuratecalculations of the transient processes takinginto account the following characteristicfeatures• electromagnetic asymmetry of the rotor;• representation of the turbogenerator solidrotor by means of the equivalent circuitscorresponding to the high order transferfunction of the damper system;• current displacement in the windings ofelectrical machines;• saturation phenomenon in the main andleakage paths of the magnetic fluxes of the ACmachines;• external impedance inserted in the armaturewinding of the AC machine.The above mentioned methods did not get widedissemination in due course though.The great amount of information on thefrequency-response characteristics of the© copyright FACULTY of ENGINEERING – HUNEDOARA, ROMANIA 67
