Successful development and deployment of such systems requiresknowledge and expertise in different fields: programming and informationtechnologies, computer architecture and communication technologies. Big part of thescience research and development in that field is directed towards new strategies forcommunication with the vehicle onboard computers.2. Structure of a GPS system for management of roadside assistanceThe roadside assistance service has a centralized dispatcher department, in which allincoming calls from clients are processed and specialized vehicles for roadsideassistance, spread at key places on the territory of Bulgaria. Based on the informationreceived from the customer location and the type of damage to the car decision aremade to send the most appropriate tow vehicle. The goal is customer service for areasonable time, while the resources of the tow vehicle are used optimally. To achievethese objectives it is necessary for the dispatcher center to continuously receiveinformation about the currentlocation of the tow vehicles,which ones are free toexecute client requests andthe status of currently executingqueries. Communicationbetween control center andonboard computers in the towvehicles is done via the communicationmodule (Fig.1).Fig. 1 Aggregate structure of the system for management and controlGPS system for control of roadside assistance services is designed to automate andoptimize the transportation of damaged vehicles to customers of roadside assistances.It is a combination of different software and hardware modules that allow monitoringof the status and geographic location of the special tow vehicles in real time, directcommunication with the driver, managing the whole process of execution of clientrequests and display of various reports.The main elements of the GPS system are: Dispatcher Center -the place where the supervision,control and monitoringof the movement of tow vehiclesis done, and the client requestsare received and processed.Part of it is the callcenter, through which thecommunication with the towservice clients is done (Fig.2).Fig. 2 Structure of dispatcher center and communications equipment190
