Methodological framework of the studySemi-structured interview.Instruction of the interviewer and scenario. For sampling of those released from penal institutions (instrument C2)• Sampling of respondentsThe total size of sampling makes 20 individuals, who meet the minimumrequirements for sampling in terms of statistics. The sample is formed in sucha way that it may represent several groups of people set at liberty. The peculiar feature of instrument C2 compared to C1 can be in the factof more refusals to be interviewed, as well as slightly higher representation inthe sample of set at liberty, who were sentenced to short terms of imprisonment. However, with this instrument we also form a quota by articles of theCriminal Code and by serving time in the institutions which carry out criminalor administrative sentences (note: not term of imprisonment in accordancewith the court’s judgment!). Time spent in an investigative isolation ward and/or other institutions is added to the time in the colony.Sampling cannot be done among close acquaintances, friends or anyother group, whose members regularly communicate with each other at closedistance. [It was expected that the sample of 20 persons will be formed withthe assistance of the Ministry of Social Policy. However, due to lack of intereston the side of officials of the ministry the working group resorted to informalcontacts while carrying out sampling.]The sample includes only those persons, who voluntarily agree to be interviewedunder conditions of confidentiality and non-disclosure of their personaldata; see details in section 1 of the scenario.
