Example of: Sliding Blocks with Planar Joint
Example File Name: joint_planar.key
Description:
This problem illustrates a planar joint connecting two rigid bodies.
Model:
The first block measuring 2 × 2 × 2 slides along a second block measuring 2 × 2 × 8. A third
flexible body controls the time step size. The first block has a ramped pressure of 100 psi applied
to the top surface and ramped concentrated nodal forces applied to a lower edge of 40 lbs. The
initial velocity of the first block is 400 inches/second.
Input:
The model contains a single joint definition consisting of nodes 128, 126, 129 and 127
(*CONSTRAINED_JOINT_PLANAR). These nodes are coincident and are attached to the rigid
bodies as extra nodes (*CONSTRAINED_EXTRA_NODES_SET, *SET_NODE_LIST)
Results:
The plots simply show that the first block correctly slides across the second block.
