Example of: Airbag Deploys into Cylinder
Example Filename: airbag_deploy.key
Description:
An airbag inflates an contacts an adjacent rigid cylinder.
Model:
The volume pressure relationship for the airbag is defined using the Simple Airbag Model for
control volumes. The bag inflates through the flow of mass into the bag. The termination time
is 0.01 seconds.
Input:
The control volume defines the thermodynamic relationship for the gas in terms of parameters such
as heat capacity, gas temperature, incoming mass, and outgoing mass
(*AIRBAG_SIMPLE_AIRBAG_MODEL). The contact surfaces are automatically generated using
part id’s(*CONTACT_NODES_TO_SURFACE).
Results:
The plots show the expaned airbag at the end of the analysis and the pressure time history for the
airbag that has been extracted from the XTF file.
