The number of family members depends upon the frequency at which the data is written and the
amount of data written for each state. A new family member is started when either the current
member becomes full or a dump file is written.
Output Files - ASCII
The ASCII files produced by LS-DYNA are as follows. The general print out file that echoes the
input data and gives the status of the job is given the name root_name.otf for the initial file
and root_name.otfnn on a restart, where nn is the restart number. A file called messag
is also produced which summarises any error or warnings found during data input and
initialization. A second summary file containing the same information as the messag file plus
a summary of the cycle information as the analysis progresses is also produced called
root_name.log and root_name.lognn on a restart.
There are also several ASCII time history files that can be written by the code if requested. These
files have the following names:
secforc - cross section forces
rwforc - rigid wall forces
nodout - nodal point data
elout - element data
glstat - global data
deforc - discrete elements
matsum - material energies
ncforc - nodal interface forces
rcforc - resultant interface forces
defgeo - smug animator database
nasbdf - nastran BDF file
spcforc - SPC reaction forces
swforc - nodal constraint resultants
abstat - airbag statistics
avsflt - ASCII database
nodfor - nodal force group
bndout - boundary conditions
rbdout - rigid body data
gceout - contact energies
sleout - interface energies
