106The Project review process was completed at the end <strong>of</strong> May 2000 with avery participatory workshop. Key follow-up recommendations <strong>of</strong> workshopparticipants are:1. Project continuity:• Continue to meet dem<strong>and</strong>s, learning from consolidated lessons toimprove new projects;• Maintain <strong>and</strong> exp<strong>and</strong> the government-civil society partnership inmanagement beyond the Program;• Support changes in the formal rural school system to build localcapacity for sustainable development;• Strengthen the small project line as an incubator <strong>of</strong> medium <strong>and</strong> largeprojects;• Request budgetary funds to support Project activities;• Stimulate proposals which take an integrated view <strong>of</strong> the family ormicro-basin production unit, taking into account issues such as foodsecurity, increased respect for traditional practices, environmentalcharacteristics <strong>and</strong> legislation;• <strong>In</strong>tegrate subprojects into the context <strong>of</strong> regional development policies,without losing sight <strong>of</strong> the role in promoting projects which supportconservation <strong>and</strong> sustainable natural resource use;• Strengthen technical assistance to prepare project proposals <strong>and</strong>implement them;• Study the possibility <strong>of</strong> redirecting PDA resources to seek partnershipswith other environmental financial mechanisms to design <strong>and</strong>implement a training program for technical assistance, implementers<strong>and</strong> technical staff;2. Strengthening ongoing experiences• <strong>In</strong>tensify <strong>and</strong> implement strategies <strong>of</strong> exchange <strong>and</strong> dissemination,including mechanisms to exchange technological <strong>and</strong> managementinformation within the Pilot Program;• Strengthen PDA staff <strong>and</strong> partnerships for continuous technicalmonitoring, evaluation <strong>and</strong> feedback <strong>of</strong> subproject activities;• <strong>In</strong>vest in articulating <strong>and</strong> monitoring partnerships seeking newfinancing, improved administrative structure, research, coordinationwith the public sector, based on a regional pole approach <strong>and</strong> themebasednetworks;• The SCA should interact with state governments to incorporate lessonsfrom PDA subprojects into public policies;• <strong>In</strong>tensify studies <strong>of</strong> lessons learned, interacting with other projects toavoid duplication;
