This phenomenonmay be attributed to scion juvenility (Bonga 1982). Scions from wildlings werecollected from different-aged ortets, whereas scions from RCT were collectedfrom nursery-raised cuttings averaging 8-months-old.Table 1. With initial height (after cutting) of bothspecies averaging 15 cm, the total height of S. leprosula and S. selanica thenbecomes 42 cm and 31 cm, respectively, a suitable size of meranti plantingstock for out planting (Kimura & Nishiyama 1999).Figure 2.
