Mostof this family conducted their activity in a colony, so they always in sufficientnumbers to effect all necessary pollen transfer.The primary attractant of E. pellita flowers was food: nectar and pollen.Formiciidae and Vespidae made visit for nectar, but Apidae took both nectarand pollen.All of visitors on E. pellita were diurnal pollinators that conduct theactivity in the daytime, so the visual attraction is the important means wherebyattracted them to the plant from a distance. On E. pellita flowers that haddish-and-brush shaped structure, it seemed that secondary attractantdominating visual appearance was the color of filament as perianthium.ConclusionE. pellita spent 302 days to develop the reproductive organs, from the floralinitiation until the ripening of fruit and seeds dispersal. There were 145 daysneeded to reach anthesis. Depend on the time of maturity of sexual organs, itis categorized as protandry dichogamy type. Anther dehiscence starts justbefore anthesis, and stigma reach maximal receptivity 3 days later. Floral initiationbegan in January, peak flowering was reached in March-April where therewas transition from rainy season to dry season, and ripening of fruit and seeddispersal occurred in September.In nature, E. pellita seemed to have outcrossing mechanism because of theprotandry dichogamy flowering type. The seeds from self-pollination werefound due to its self-fertile mechanism, but it was indicated that the inbreedingdepression suppressed the growth at the seedling level.There was a broad range of the kind of flower visitors including thethree families from order Hymenopthera: Apidae, Vespidae, and Formiciidae.From those flower visitors, it seemed that the bee of Apidae was the mosteffective pollinator. The primary attractant of the flowers were foods: nectarand pollen. On E. pellita flowers that had dish-and-brush shaped structure,it seemed that secondary attractant dominating visual appearance was the colorof filament as perianthium. The optimal activity was detected on durationApril-May, from 06.00 am to 02.00 pm, with the peak of activity on 08.00 to11.30 am.
