TO 00-20-14 30 September 2011e. Calibration Authority: Calibration requirements as determined by AFMETCAL shall be established using theorder of precedence noted in Paragraph 3.1.2.f. Acquirer: Organization that procures the calibration software.3.1.6.1.2 Calibration software documentation levels shall be determined by the Maintainer, but shall include as aminimum:a. End items to be calibrated with the software.b. Software identification number.c. Software revision status/number.d. Calibration authority to be cited (including version date).e. Software Validation and Verification (Val & Ver) Plan.f. Validation and Verification results. This documentation shall be maintained throughout the software’s life.NOTESoftware Validation and Verification shall be re-accomplished and documentationupdated if the Calibration Authority is changed and/or updated. Calibration softwarethat has not undergone Validation and Verification against the published (official)version of the Calibration Authority or lacking current up to date documentationcannot be used.3.1.6.1.3 Software Verification and Validation Support. One or several PMELs may be tasked through the CommandMFM to participate in software Verification and Validation tests for AFMETCAL managed CPIN or TO calibrationsoftware. Specific guidelines detailing the Validation and Verification process will be provided to the PMEL for eachtest.3.1.7 Calibration Procedures. AFMETCAL shall prepare, maintain and control content, and issue 33K series technicalorders and software for calibrating measurement standards, TMDE and automated test equipment defined as theresponsibility of the PMEL. AFMETCAL shall publish and maintain TO 33K-1-100-1, Calibration Procedure forMaintenance Data Collection Codes And Calibration Measurement Summaries. AFMETCAL shall ensure:a. Calibration procedures contain the required range and tolerance or uncertainty of each item or unit parameterbeing calibrated or verified.b. The procedures contain a generic description of the measurement standards and equipment needed with therequired parameter, range, tolerances or uncertainties, and specifications for performing the measurement, and/orrepresentative types (manufacturer, model, option) that are capable of meeting the generic description for themeasurement standards.c. The procedures are consistent with the accuracy required, and with any standard specifications relevant to thecalibrations/verifications concerned.d. The calibration uncertainties are sufficiently small so that the adequacy of the measurement is not affected.Well-defined and documented measurement assurance techniques or uncertainty analyses may be used to verifythe adequacy of a measurement process. If such techniques or analyses are not used, then the collectiveuncertainty of the measurement standards shall not exceed 25 percent (4:1) of the acceptable tolerance for eachcharacteristic of the measuring and test equipment being calibrated or verified.3-4
