Limited cold stimulation of <strong>up</strong> to 5 minutescauses a narrowing of the vessels and aslight rise in blood pressure.Important to know: ice does not reduce swelling- it only stops it from occurring or fromincreasing. But it does have an anti-inflammatoryeffect and relieves acute pain.Cooling - but not ice-cold! This is the principleof the so-called cryotherapy, which is used torelieve pain.
