COMMUNITY CONCERTS 41COMMUNITY CONCERTSThroughout the year, Third Street offers approximately 250 free concerts bystudents, faculty and guest artists. Highlights include the Holiday MusicHour in December, Concerto Concert, Stowe C. Phelps Annual StudentConcert in the spring, and String ’Stravaganzas in January and June. TheSchool is also known in the community for the two concert series itproduces each year:ARTIST PERFORMANCE SERIESThese concerts, featuring Third Street’s highly regarded faculty and theirartist friends, are offered to the general public most Friday evenings fromSeptember to May. Admission is free. Diverse and creative programshighlight the School’s outstanding faculty and provide a valuable culturalresource to the community and New York City. Performances take placeat 7:00 p.m. in the School’s Anna-Maria Kellen Auditorium. Doors openat 6:30 p.m. General seating is available on a first-come-basis. For moreinformation on individual artists and their programs, please visit theSchool’s Web site.MUSIC IN ABE LEBEWOHL PARKEvery summer since 1981, Third Street and the Tenth & Stuyvesant StreetsBlock Association, in cooperation with St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery,have presented Music in Abe Lebewohl Park, a series of free outdoor concerts.These programs by professional performers offer a wide variety of music,reflecting the Lower East Side’s diverse ethnic cultures. Concerts take placeat 12:30 p.m. on eight Thursdays in June and July in Abe Lebewohl Park at2nd Avenue and 10th Street. In case of rain, performances are held on theportico of St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery.
