Percussion students may begin as early as age 6. Student SupportServices will schedule students with no prior playing experience and theDepartment Chairperson will schedule students with prior playing experience.The Woodwind, Brass & Percussion Department offers two orientationsessions each year for new students. Student Support Services will informnew students about the orientation session dates and times upon enrollment.WOODWIND, BRASS & PERCUSSION DEPARTMENTHONORS & PREPARATORY ENRICHMENT PROGRAMSBARBARA E. FIELD CHAMBER MUSIC PROGRAMWoodwind, brass and percussion students are strongly encouraged to participatein the Barbara E. Field Chamber Music Program, which is open to all studentsby audition. This program is part of the tuition-free enrichment programs. Seepage 25 for a complete description of this program.WEDNESDAY WINDSIn this after-school program, students gather by skill level to play in Prelude Band,Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Big Band and/or Jazz Prep Ensemble. Freeto students from partnering public schools and students enrolled in individualor partner lessons at Third Street, Wednesday Winds gives interested woodwind,brass and percussion students the opportunity to be part of a close-knitcommunity.
