COURSE LISTINGS 15Students are evaluated on repertoire, sight-reading, ear training andtechnique as part of a year-long program of study that includes concertattendance and performance. Upon completion of the 10 graded levels andAssociateship degree of the Piano Certificate Program, each student willhave completed a high quality, comprehensive piano and general musiceducation. The Piano Certificate Program also includes many opportunitiesfor public performance, personal growth and musical development.Students may register for the Piano Certificate Program by filling outthe registration form (available from any piano faculty or from StudentSupport Services) and returning it to the Student Support Services office.Upon registration, each student will receive a folder with program materialswhich he/she will review with his/her instructor. Exams are held in Februaryand in late spring, with students playing scales, technical exercises andrepertoire. An award ceremony and honors recital is held at Steinway Halleach May.PIANO OLYMPICSThe Piano Olympics are a fun way for students enrolled in the PianoCertificate Program to master the technical requirements of the Program.The Piano Olympics are also great for students who are not enrolled inthe Piano Certificate Program to strengthen their skills and gain a sense ofaccomplishment.Students are divided into teams and compete for their adopted “countries.”The events include scales, chords and arpeggios as required by the PianoCertificate Program. Students are grouped by skill level and age and prizesare given to all participants. The emphasis is on participation, preparationand team spirit. The Piano Olympics concludes with an internationalreception. This program is free to all students enrolled in piano instruction.Registration Period:January 3, 2012 throughJanuary 25, 2012
