42 PARENTS ASSOCIATIONJOINNOW!PARENTS ASSOCIATIONAll parents of students enrolled in any division of Third Street are consideredmembers of the Parents Association. Adult students and parents of alumniare also welcome to get involved.The purpose of the Parents Association is to support the mission andactivities of the School—and the student learning experience—throughthe volunteer talents and resources of the parent body; to facilitatecommunication between the parent body and the School by providingchannels for information to be shared and for questions and concerns to beraised and addressed; and to foster a sense of community among ThirdStreet families, faculty and staff.For more information about theParents Association and howyou can get involved, pleasevisit www.thirdstreetmusicschool.org/who_parents.htmor call Joanne Coco at2I2-777-3240, ext. 23.Yearly activities of the Parents Association include the following:DEPARTMENT LIAISON: Facilitate communication and provide supportto the department you are involved with or are interested in.Hospitality: Organize the All-School Holiday Reception after theAnnual Holiday Music Hour. Organize receptions after Studio Recitals,Faculty Recitals and other special events, according to faculty and familyinterest.Community SERVICE: Support the School in out-of-schoolmarketing and community-building activities, such as street fairs andoutside performances.School Store: Conceive of and sell Third Street items like T-shirts, totebags, etc., to raise funds and increase awareness of the School throughoutthe community and the city.Faculty Recital Ushers: Assist with Artist Performance Seriesconcerts, handing out programs and monitoring the door.Senior Class Committee: Organize Senior Night activities and theSenior Gift that high school seniors and their families present at year-end tothe School.Bulletin Boards: Update and maintain the School’s bulletin boards.FUND-RAISING EVENTS: Solicit support for the School from thecommunity and local businesses that Third Street families patronize.Parent-to-Parent Engagement: Market the School by spreadinginformation about programs directly to other parents through theinternet and other methods.

Studentscan register in person, by USPS mail or e-mail. Registration forms are availableto download from the School’s Web site; paper forms are available at theSchool and in the centerfold of the course catalog.When should you register?Individual and partner lessons are open for enrollment throughoutthe year. The School recommends that returning students enroll duringthe Early Registration Period which begins on May 6, 2011 and continuesuntil June 25, 2011. Returning students receive special consideration inscheduling if they register during this time. After the term has started,students must register at least one week before their intended start date.Group classes remain open until the fourth week of classes or untilthe enrollment maximum has been reached.
