42 PARENTS ASSOCIATIONJOINNOW!PARENTS ASSOCIATIONAll parents of students enrolled in any division of <strong>Third</strong> <strong>Street</strong> are consideredmembers of the Parents Association. Adult students and parents of alumniare also welcome to get involved.The purpose of the Parents Association is to support the mission andactivities of the <strong>School</strong>—and the student learning experience—throughthe volunteer talents and resources of the parent body; to facilitatecommunication between the parent body and the <strong>School</strong> by providingchannels for information to be shared and for questions and concerns to beraised and addressed; and to foster a sense of community among <strong>Third</strong><strong>Street</strong> families, faculty and staff.For more information about theParents Association and howyou can get involved, pleasevisit www.thirdstreetmusicschool.org/who_parents.htmor call Joanne Coco at2I2-777-3240, ext. 23.Yearly activities of the Parents Association include the following:DEPARTMENT LIAISON: Facilitate communication and provide supportto the department you are involved with or are interested in.Hospitality: Organize the All-<strong>School</strong> Holiday Reception after theAnnual Holiday <strong>Music</strong> Hour. Organize receptions after Studio Recitals,Faculty Recitals and other special events, according to faculty and familyinterest.Community SERVICE: Support the <strong>School</strong> in out-of-schoolmarketing and community-building activities, such as street fairs andoutside performances.<strong>School</strong> Store: Conceive of and sell <strong>Third</strong> <strong>Street</strong> items like T-shirts, totebags, etc., to raise funds and increase awareness of the <strong>School</strong> throughoutthe community and the city.Faculty Recital Ushers: Assist with Artist Performance Seriesconcerts, handing out programs and monitoring the door.Senior Class Committee: Organize Senior Night activities and theSenior Gift that high school seniors and their families present at year-end tothe <strong>School</strong>.Bulletin Boards: Update and maintain the <strong>School</strong>’s bulletin boards.FUND-RAISING EVENTS: Solicit support for the <strong>School</strong> from thecommunity and local businesses that <strong>Third</strong> <strong>Street</strong> families patronize.Parent-to-Parent Engagement: Market the <strong>School</strong> by spreadinginformation about programs directly to other parents through theinternet and other methods.
