Students are grouped by level and ageand groups range in membership from two to four.Enrollment in the Piano Ensemble Program is limited to students whohave at least one year of instruction. Students are placed in ensembles bythe Piano Department Chairperson, upon recommendation of their pianoteacher. A select number of piano ensembles will be admitted to theHonors Enrichment Programs.Piano Ensemble Program classes are scheduled according to students’and coaches’ availability.PIANO IMPROVISATIONInstruction in piano improvisation is offered to all interested students withat least one year of piano instruction. Improvisation builds confidenceand freedom at the keyboard and further develops musical creativity. Thisprogram is part of the tuition-free enrichment programs.BARBARA E. FIELD CHAMBER MUSIC PROGRAMPiano students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Barbara E.Field Chamber Music Program, which is open to all students by audition.This program is part of the tuition-free enrichment programs. See page 24–25 for a complete description of this program.JAZZ PIANO ENSEMBLE PROGRAMInstruction in jazz piano is offered to all interested students with at leastone year of piano instruction. Jazz piano students are also encouraged toenroll in Jazz Theory and Composition or one of the School’s jazz ensembles.This program is part of the tuition-free enrichment programs.Sign up: April 25, 2012Concert Date: June 9, 2012PIANO MONSTER CONCERTA Piano Monster Concert is a large piano ensemble of up to 16 players whoplay with a conductor. Piano students of all ages and levels are invited toperform in the Monster Concert on the last Saturday Music Hour in June.Students may sign up for a piece at their sight-reading level. Musicwill be distributed by May 1, 2012. Rehearsals are scheduled for Saturdayafternoons after Memorial Day.LARGE & SMALL ENSEMBLESStudents, with recommendation by their teacher and the Piano DepartmentChairperson, are encouraged to play in one of the School’s tuition-freeHonors Enrichment Program ensembles.
