020021Performance Highlights, 2008-09• In <strong>the</strong> construction sector, <strong>the</strong> road segment showed some robust growth <strong>til</strong>l September ‘08. The economic slowdownresulted in projects being deferred. A total of 199 Units valued at Rs. 8,676 lacs were from customers belonging to roadconstruction sector.• The foreign exchange fluctuation and <strong>the</strong> adverse impact on <strong>the</strong> private contractors’ liquidity situation affected <strong>the</strong>outright machine sales in this division.• In terms of mining, fur<strong>the</strong>r progress was made with <strong>the</strong> sale of Dumpers in <strong>the</strong> growing Cement segment valued atRs. 600 lacs.• Machines like Truck Type Loaders valued at approximately Rs. 470 lacs were procured by an established Steelmanufacturer.• Additional focus was given to Rental business to offer innovative equipment acquisition option and viable Rentalalternative to customers.• The Rental fleet was augmented, surpassing 150 units for <strong>the</strong> first time in 2008-09. This also resulted in an increase in<strong>the</strong> asset base of <strong>the</strong> Company by Rs. 800 lacs.
