LENGTH OF SERVICE AWARD (LOS)PurposeThis award recognizes creditable service with the U.S. Government upon completing10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 50 years of service. All periods of service, whether civilian ormilitary, which are creditable for leave and retirement purposes are used in computingservice for this award. LOS certificates for intervening years will not be processed.EligibilityDirect-hire employees only.Administrative ResponsibilitiesHR/ELR prepares all LOS certificates. Pins are no longer purchased or supplied byHR.Employees who reach 35, 40, 45 or 50 years of service and are assigned to USAID/Ware invited to attend an Administrator’s Senior Staff Meeting, where they are presentedtheir LOS certificate by the Administrator or designee.Employees who reach 10, 20, 25, or 30 years of service and are assigned to USAID/Ware invited, along with their Bureau/Independent Office Senior Staff, to attend LOSCeremonies where the employee is presented their LOS certificate by the Director ofHuman Resources or designee.Other InformationSee State 3 FAM 4840 for a full description of the LOS program for Foreign ServiceNationals.34*OMB Memorandum 13-05 directs the suspension of discretionary monetary awards while sequestrationis in place.
