OUTSTANDING <strong>CAREER</strong> ACHIEVEMENT AWARDPurposeThis award recognizes outstanding service performed throughout a FederalGovernment career. It is presented only upon departure from the Agency.EligibilityGS, FS, FSN (both direct hires and Personal Services Contractors), SES, and SFSemployees are eligible.Award InformationThe Outstanding Career Achievement Award and the Administrator’s DistinguishedCareer Service Award are presented at any time during the year, only when anemployee departs from the Agency. These two awards require an extensive review bythe Agency’s Special Awards Committee (SAC) and approval of the Administrator.Once approved, award certificates are created and framed by outside vendors.To complete a comprehensive career award, nominators must request access to theemployee’s evaluation file from HR/ELR. This award category requires a minimumof 30 days to process.Approval Steps1. Supervisor (unless nominated by the employee’s Supervisor).2. Bureau/Independent Office Heads, Mission Directors.3. Bureau/Independent Office Awards Committee (BAC).4. USAID Special Awards Committee.5. Administrator.Recognition1. Framed certificate signed by the Administrator.2. Presentation of certificate at the annual awards ceremony.Other InformationNominations are judged based on the candidate’s ability to demonstrate one or more ofthe following accomplishments or achievements:1. Performs in a consistently outstanding manner during his or her career in theFederal Government.45*OMB Memorandum 13-05 directs the suspension of discretionary monetary awards while sequestrationis in place. Beginning March 8, 2013 USAID will not issue monetary awards until otherwise directed.
