ADMINISTRATOR’S DISTINGUISHED CAREER SERVICE AWARDPurposeThis is the highest Agency award. It recognizes employees with distinguished careersand is presented only upon departure from the Agency.EligibilityGS, FS, FSN (both direct hires and Personal Services Contractors), SES, and SFSemployees are eligible.Award InformationThe Administrator’s Distinguished Career Service Award and the Outstanding CareerAchievement Award are presented only upon departure from the Agency, at any timethroughout the year. These two awards require an extensive review by the Agency’sSpecial Awards Committee (SAC) and Administrator approval. Once approved, awardcertificates are created and framed by outside vendors.To complete a comprehensive career award, nominators must request access to theemployee’s evaluation file from HR/ELR. This award category requires a minimumof 30 days to process.Approval Steps1. Supervisor (unless nominated by the employee’s Supervisor).2. Bureau/Independent Office Heads, Mission Directors.3. Bureau/Independent Office Awards Committee (BAC).4. USAID Special Awards Committee.5. Administrator.Recognition1. Framed certificate signed by the Administrator.2. Presentation of certificate at the annual awards ceremony.Other InformationNominations are judged based on the candidate’s ability to demonstrate one or more ofthe following accomplishments:1. Performing with unusual dedication and distinction within the Federal Government.2. Displaying outstanding leadership and unique professional skills.4*OMB Memorandum 13-05 directs the suspension of discretionary monetary awards while sequestrationis in place. Beginning March 8, 2013 USAID will not issue monetary awards until otherwise directed.
