Technical GuideP92x/EN FT/H42User GuideMiCOM P921/P922/P923 Page 15/70If an hardware error appears, the following prompt will appear:HARDWARE ALARMSThe user can read all warning messages pressing , without entering thepassword: for example,STATS ERROR 1/1It is not possible to acknowledge and clear warning messages caused by internalrelay hardware or software failure. This message can only be cleared once thecause of the hardware or software failure has been removed. The control of the WARNING LED (LED 3) is directly assigned to the status of thewarning messages stored in the memory.Alarms can be classified as minor or major faults. If the internal hardware orsoftware failure is major (i.e. the relay cannot perform protection functions), theWARNING LED (LED 3) lights up continuously.− major fault: Protection and automation functions of the equipment are blocked. Inthis condition, the protection relay detects the corresponding fault and activatesRL0 Watchdog relay (35-36 terminals contact is closed – “relay failed” position). For instance: the “DEF. ANA” fault (fault in the analog circuit channel) isconsidered as a major fault because the protection functions will not operatecorrectly.− minor fault: Protection and automation functions of the relay operate. A minorfault will not activate RL0 Watch Dog relay (35-36 terminals contact is closed, 36-37 terminals is open). This fault causes a LED alarm and is displayed on the LCDpanel. The Watch Dog relay controls the correct operation of the protection and automationfunction. This relay fault “RL0 relay” is activated if the following functions or checksare faulty:− microprocessor operation,− power supply check,− reconstituted internal power supply check,− heating of a circuit board component monitoring,− analog channel monitoring (acquisition sampling),− programm execution monitoring,− communication ports monitoring. If the internal hardware or software failure is minor (like a communication failure thathas no influence on the protection and automation functions), the WARNING LED(LED 3) will flash.Possible Hardware or Software alarm messages are:
