The Guidel<strong>in</strong>es for this policy are set out <strong>in</strong> the document ‘Pour une école d'<strong>in</strong>tégration: constatsquestions-perspectives’(‘striv<strong>in</strong>g for <strong>in</strong>tegration at school: facts, issues and prospects’) published by the M<strong>in</strong>istry of Education <strong>in</strong> 1998. Thisdocument served as the basis for a policy debate <strong>in</strong> the Chamber of Deputies <strong>in</strong> November 2000, dur<strong>in</strong>g which a 24-po<strong>in</strong>t motion was adopted(Motion adopted by the Chamber of Deputies dur<strong>in</strong>g the debate on <strong>in</strong>tegration at school, 29 November, 2000). The aims and measures set out <strong>in</strong>this motion are be<strong>in</strong>g steadily achieved and implemented by the M<strong>in</strong>istry of Education.No support measures for immigrant pupils.No support measures for immigrant pupils.Local Compensatory Education Act (Wet GOA, 1998), under which the government has decentralised education policy for disadvantaged pupils, tolocal authorities. Municipal authorities with a certa<strong>in</strong> proportion of disadvantaged children are allocated a specific budget to improve provision forthem.Accord<strong>in</strong>g to the Decree on Education for Aliens (17 July 2003), municipalities may claim a government subsidy to organise educational provisionfor asylum seekers’ children, provided certa<strong>in</strong> conditions are met.86
