Electrochromic Day/Night Rearview Mirror(Option)Your Buick may have an automatic electrochromicday/night rearview mirror. This mirror automatically changes to reduce glare fromheadlamps behind you. A photocell on the back of themirror senses when it is becoming dark outside. Anotherphotocell built into the mirror surface, senses whenheadlamps are behind you.At night, when the glare is too high, the mirror willgradually darken to reduce glare (this change may take afew seconds). The mirror will return to its clear daytimestate when the glare is reduced.Press the button at the base of the mirror to turn on theautomatic feature. The button has an indicator light toshow it is on. Press the button again to turn theautomatic feature off.Time DelayThe automatic mirror has a time delay feature whichprevents unnecessary switching from the night back tothe day position. This delay prevents rapid changing ofthe mirror as you drive under lights and through traffic.Reverse Gear Day ModeThe reverse day mode is another important featureof the electrochromic mirror. When you shift intoREVERSE (R), the mirror changes to the day mode. This gives you a bright image in the mirror as youback up.Cleaning the PhotocellsUse a cotton swab and glass cleaner to clean thephotocells when necessary.
