J4 FunctionalityLinLog2To get more grey resolution in the LinLog ® mode, the LinLog2 procedure was developed. InLinLog2 mode a switching between two different logarithmic compressions occurs during theexposure time (see Fig. 4.10). The exposure starts with strong compression with a highLinLog ® voltage (Value1). At Time1 the LinLog ® voltage is switched to a lower voltage resulting ina weaker compression. This procedure gives a LinLog ® response curve with more greyresolution. Fig. 4.11 and Fig. 4.12 show how the response curve is controlled by the threeparameters Value1, Value2 and the LinLog ® time Time1.Settings in LinLog2 mode, enable a fine tuning of the slope in the logarithmicregion.8 E CJ A N F8 = K A 8 = K A6 E A 6 E A 6 E A = N Figure 4.10: Voltage switching in the Linlog2 modeTypical LinLog2 Response Curve − Varying Parameter Time1300Time2=1000, Value1=19, Value2=14Output grey level (8 bit) [DN]25020015010050T1 = 840T1 = 920T1 = 960T1 = 980T1 = 9990Illumination IntensityFigure 4.11: Response curve for different LinLog settings in LinLog2 mode26
