ToolT2Aggression risk calculatorThis risk calculator can be used across an organisation, within a specificdepartment or unit, or with staff from a particular work or professional group todetermine the tiered level of training required based upon occupational groups.The focus of this tool is staff who deal with clients by telephone or directly.It has been developed to enable staff to document the role they carry outin client care and the type of client contact they have within that role as ameans of determining the level of training required by particular occupationalgroups. It could be used in conjunction with a staff survey, or in isolation toprovide a snapshot of a current situation. It enhances the snapshot providedby the exposure to aggression risk calculator (Tool T1).The results of the compiled data from this calculator should be reviewedin conjunction with incident and near-miss data formally reported within theorganisation, position descriptions and role expectations of staff and otherorganisational documentation such as training and education records andhealth and safety control measures that have been implemented.Page 3 of 4WorkSafe Victoria Handbook / Prevention and management of aggression in health services 83
