PolandBranchDirector: Dr. Miroslaw Wielgos | Established: Year 2007The Polish Branch of the Ian Donald Inter-University School of Medical Ultrasound isone of the youngest, as it was established on November 27 th 2007. Professor MIROSLAWWIELGOS was elected the Director. The head office of the Polish Branch is located at the1 st Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Starynkiewicza Square 1/3 in Warsaw.Poland is proud to have joined one of the largest schools of medical ultrasound, thusgiving many clinicians the opportunity to participate in it and gain additional knowledgein medical ultrasonography.Although this branch was just established, we were able to organize one internationalcongress in 2008. The conference covered the topic of the role of 3D/4D Ultrasound inObstetrics and Gynecology. It was held on 12 th and 13 th of May in the capital cityof Poland-Warsaw. The conference was divided into a theoretical course and practicaltraining on the GE machines, where around 200 participants could gain expert advice.The lectures were given by invited speakers, the majority of them being famous specialistsin the presented field, among them ASIM KURJAK and JACQUES ABRAMOWICZ. Asthe venue of the conference was the center of Warsaw, the participants had a chanceto experience some history in their free time. The meeting held in Warsaw was the firstever Ian Donald School Conference in our country. It was very well-received by allparticipants, including our foreign colleagues.As the Polish Branch of Ian Donald Inter-University School we are planning to promotethe science and art of ultrasound scanning in our country, especially among clinicianswho need additional knowledge and practice in recent developments, both in obstetricsand gynecology. We would like to improve teaching strategies and provide expertadvice and continuous venues of training for all beginners. The Polish Branch will tryto gather Polish ultrasound specialists in order to provide the above and promoteresearch and education in the field of medical ultrasound.Warsaw.112
