QatarBranchDirector: Dr. Badreldeen Ahmed | Established: Year 2005The Qatar branch was established in 2005 with the headquarters located in the Department<strong>of</strong> Obstetrics and Gynecology, Women’s Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporationin Doha, capital city <strong>of</strong> the State <strong>of</strong> Qatar.The Qatar branch <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong> held its first conference course in Obstetricand Gynecology at the Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha from the 4 th -8 th <strong>of</strong> January2006. The extremely successful conference was attended by a total <strong>of</strong> 135 attendeesincluding doctors and ultrasound technicians from the Hamad Medical Corporation,health centers, private clinics and overseas. The Faculty included the following wellrenownedpr<strong>of</strong>essors: ASIM KURJAK (Croatia), WOLFGANG HOLZGREVE (Switzerland), YVESVILLE (France), FRANK CHERVENAK (USA), SANJA KUPESIC (Croatia) and GIAMPAOLO MAN-DRUZZATO (Italy).A second conference course sponsored by the Qatar branch <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong>was held from March 13 th -15 th , 2008 together with The Fetus as a Patient course. Thisjoint conference was held in Hajar Hall, Hamad Medical Corporation Education Centerin Doha. There were about 200 participants, doctors and technicians, from the HamadMedical Center, Doha health centers and private clinics, as well as from neighboringcountries. The speakers were F. CHERVENAK (USA), A. KURJAK (Croatia), E. SALING andJ. W. DUDENHAUSEN (Germany), Y. VILLE (France), A. ANTSAKLIS (Greece), G. C. DI RENZO(Italy), J. CARVALHO (UK), A. ATTIA, A. EBRASHY and H. ABOLMAKAREM (Egypt), N. KHENYABand B. AHMED (Qatar). Both conferences were nice and interesting social gatheringsorganized in authentic surroundings.<strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> courses were well attended and accepted by the audience. We believe thatthese conferences should be organized on a regular basis, with one conference beingheld every two years. They should also include other speakers from the list <strong>of</strong> co-directors<strong>of</strong> <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong> or other recognized experts.Doha.116
