His main scientific interest is prenataldiagnosis. He spent years <strong>of</strong> fellowshipsin Edinburgh and Oxford tostudy genetic counseling, prenatal diagnosis,ultrasound, and molecular genetics.He introduced prenatal karyotypingfrom amniotic fluid in Europe in 1969.Pr<strong>of</strong>essor PAPP was appointed director <strong>of</strong>the I. Department <strong>of</strong> Obstetrics and Gynecology,Semmelweis University, Budapest,in 1990. As the head <strong>of</strong> the leadingdepartment <strong>of</strong> obstetrics and gynecologyin Hungary, he practices obstetrics,prenatal genetics, gynecological and oncologicalcare, organizes research andgraduate/postgraduate medical education.He has published over 900 peer-reviewedpapers in prestigious journals. Heis author <strong>of</strong> several books, including theAtlas <strong>of</strong> Fetal Diagnosis and Textbook <strong>of</strong>Medical Genetics in English and the Textbook<strong>of</strong> Obstetrics and Gynecology andClinical Genetics, which are <strong>of</strong>ficial textbooksfor medical students in Hungary.Dr. PAPP is a member <strong>of</strong> the GermanAcademy <strong>of</strong> Natural Scientists Leopoldina,the Croatian Academy <strong>of</strong> MedicalSciences, the International Academy <strong>of</strong><strong>Perinatal</strong> Medicine, the <strong>World</strong> Academy<strong>of</strong> Art and Science and HonoraryFellow <strong>of</strong> the American College <strong>of</strong> Obs -te tricians and Gynecologists.
