She also receivedtraining in the Latin American Centre inPerinatology and Human Development(CLAP), a technical Centre <strong>of</strong> the PanAmerican Health Organization (PAHO)and <strong>World</strong> Health Organization (WHO).She completed her residency in Obstetricsand Gynecology in Paris (France)at the Antoine Béclère Hospital, withPr<strong>of</strong>. EMILE PAPIERNICK where she stayeduntil 1986. She was later Resident inLaennec Hospital with Pr<strong>of</strong>. JEAN YVESNEVEUX, and LAURENT FERMONT in theEchocardiology Service in Paris.Dr. BIANCHI has attended numerous trainingcourses in Uruguay and abroad.She has lectured local and in internationalmeetings and has organized nationaland international courses. She attendedthe Fetal Medicine Foundations programsin London Kings College, withPr<strong>of</strong>. KYPROS NICOLAÏDES in 1999.From 1993 to 2000 she was nominatedby the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Medicine <strong>of</strong> Uruguay tocreate the Department <strong>of</strong> Ultrasound andPrenatal Diagnosis for the three GynecologyServices in Montevideo. She joinedthe <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Medicine as an AssistantPr<strong>of</strong>essor in 1993, and in 2007 she becamethe Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Perinatal</strong> Service <strong>of</strong>the Montevideo University Hospital. In2005 she became the Director <strong>of</strong> the Uruguaybranch <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong>.At present, she is the Director <strong>of</strong> the FetalMedicine Department in the two biggestprivate Maternities <strong>of</strong> the country: AsociaciónEspañola de Socorros Mutuos(Spanish <strong>Association</strong> <strong>of</strong> Mutual Aids),and CASMU (Assistance Center <strong>of</strong> theMedical Union <strong>of</strong> the Uruguay).Dr. BIANCHI’s main contribution has beenin the field <strong>of</strong> prenatal diagnosis <strong>of</strong> fetalmalformations, echocardiography, andfeto-placental Doppler. She has been coauthorin several books and scientificpublications. She is an active member <strong>of</strong>both national and international ScientificSocieties.Montevideo University Hospital(Pereira Rossell).150
