Three day conference course at the St. Petersburg State University,3 speakers and 356 participants.Participants from different parts of Russia and other former USSR countries have beenfortunate to have numerous presentations, performed by the best professionals in thisfield of medicine, and the opportunity to improve their knowledge in theory and practice.Dialogs with speakers gave them a good chance to discuss actual problems such asthe safety of ultrasound, performance of normal anatomy scanning, diagnostics of fetalabnormalities, evaluation of fetal behavior and wellbeing, use of 3-D techniques in obstetricand gynecology, and the organization of ultrasound service in different countries.Today medical ultrasound has become an essential part of obstetrics and gynecologycare. Most of the ultrasound specialists, who participated in the courses at St. Petersburgsuggested that through these courses they have obtained a deeper understandingof the use of computer technologies and practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology,which has help to improve the quality of health care at their medical institution. It is avery important that participants are presented with the latest knowledge so they willhave an opportunity to officially extend their state certification in Ultrasound from theMedical Faculty at St. PetersburgState University.St. Petersburg’s department ofIan Donald Inter-University UltrasoundSchool is planning tohold its next conference coursein 2009.
