He was also the Director<strong>of</strong> the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division.In September 2005, Dr. ANTSAKLIS wasappointed Chairman <strong>of</strong> the 1 st Department<strong>of</strong> Obstetrics and Gynecology at theUniversity <strong>of</strong> Athens.MembershipAt the national level he is a FoundingMember, an Executive Board Memberand President <strong>of</strong> several organizations inthe field <strong>of</strong> Obstetrics and Gynecology,<strong>Perinatal</strong> Medicine, Ultrasounds and FetalMedicine. For example, Dr. ANTSAKLIShas been the General Secretary and amember <strong>of</strong> the Hellenic Society <strong>of</strong> Obstetricsand Gynecology for several years.He also holds membership and variousboard positions with the Hellenic Society<strong>of</strong> Pe rinatal Medicine (President forseveral years), the Hellenic Society <strong>of</strong>Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Therapy(Founder and President), the HellenicSociety <strong>of</strong> Ultrasound in Obstetrics andGynecology (Founder and President since1992), the Hellenic Society <strong>of</strong> MaternalFetal Medicine (Member <strong>of</strong> the ExecutiveBoard), and the Hellenic Society<strong>of</strong> Medical Studies (Member <strong>of</strong> the ExecutiveBoard). Dr. ANTSAKLIS has participatedin several committees <strong>of</strong> the HellenicHealth Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perinatal</strong> Medicinesince 1990 and on Ultrasound in Obstetricssince 1995. He is member <strong>of</strong> theEditorial Board <strong>of</strong> several Greek MedicalJournals. He is Vice President and member<strong>of</strong> the Scientific Committee <strong>of</strong> the<strong>World</strong> <strong>Association</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perinatal</strong> Medicine.Member <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> the InternationalSociety: «The Fetus as a Patient». Heis a member <strong>of</strong> the «Fetoscopy WorkingGroup». Dr. ANTSAKLIS has also been amember <strong>of</strong> the expert advisory Panel onMaternal and <strong>Perinatal</strong> Health and ObstetricsFIGO since 1997. He was Presidentelect <strong>of</strong> the European <strong>Association</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perinatal</strong>Medicine (2002-2004), President <strong>of</strong>the 19 th European Congress <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perinatal</strong>Medicine, Athens, Oct. 2004 and President<strong>of</strong> EAPM for 2004-2006 and PastPresident for 2006-2008. He is member<strong>of</strong> the International Academy <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perinatal</strong>Medicine, Vice President <strong>of</strong> the MediterraneanUnion on Ob/Gyn, Co-editor <strong>of</strong>the <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong> Journal <strong>of</strong> Ultrasoundin Ob/Gyn, and editor <strong>of</strong> the Greek journals«<strong>Perinatal</strong> Medicine and Neonatology»and «Ultrasonography».Pr<strong>of</strong>essional and research interestsDr. ANTSAKLIS organized several Nationaland International Conferences and Meetingson Prenatal Diagnosis. His contributionto <strong>Perinatal</strong> Medicine was great bothin Greece and worldwide. He is a permanentmember <strong>of</strong> the organization <strong>of</strong> PrenatalDiagnosis <strong>of</strong> Hereditary Hemoglobinopathies.Dr. ANTSAKLIS has supervisedPhD thesis, research projects on differentsubjects and acted as referee for otherPhD thesis. He has been a visiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essorat the European summer and winter<strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perinatal</strong> Medicine since 1998.PublicationsDr. ANTSAKLIS is the author and co-author<strong>of</strong> 400 publications in the Internationaland Hellenic pre-reviewed journals andhas written 24 chapters in the Internationaland Greek medical books.Medical <strong>School</strong>.
