AlbaniaBranchDirector: Dr. Orion Gliozheni | Established: Year 2007In July <strong>of</strong> 2007, Albania made an <strong>of</strong>ficial request to establish the <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> Inter-University <strong>School</strong> for Medical Ultrasound. A month later, the request was granted andthe <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong> was established in Albania. Appointed to be director at thisbranch <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong> was Pr<strong>of</strong>essor ORION GLIOZHENI.Recently, this <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong> organized its first advance conference course <strong>of</strong> Ultrasoundin Obstetrics and Gynecology. The conference was held in Tirana on April 4 thand 5 th , 2008, at the Tirana International hotel. The conference was very successfulwith more than 250 participants from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro.The highlight <strong>of</strong> the conference featured live practical demonstrations with 4D ultrasoundmachines. The invited speakers from abroad at this conference were: A. KUR-JAK, E. MERZ, A. ANTSAKLIS, V. D’ADDARIO, G. MANDRUZZATO, A. LJUBIC, A. ATHANASSIADES,S. BEKSAC and S. SYLEJMANI. The reception held after the conference was a festive one,where food and music brought together invited guest and their Albanian colleagues.All participants were very impressed by the educational value <strong>of</strong> this conference as itwas reflected in their evaluations and comments.This being the first conference puton by our Albanian <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Donald</strong> <strong>School</strong> hasbeen a rousing success.
