OBJECTIVES, RULES AND ORGANIZATION OF IAN DONALD SCHOOLThe Ian Donald School is designed to address the needs of clinicians with interest indiagnostic ultrasound, who seek additional knowledge and practice in recent obstetricand gynecologic sonographic developments.Objectives of the School– To promote:• The science and art of ultrasound scanning.• Research and education in the field of medical ultrasound.• Continuous training in ultrasound.• Facilitation and dissemination of information featured in scientific publications,including the Ian Donald School Journal of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gyne -co logy.• Appropriate counseling of women who receive ultrasound examinations.– To provide:• Expert advice to those entering the field of ultrasound.– To increase:• Knowledge as it relates to methodologies for implementing recent ultrasoundadvances.– To contribute:• To the improvement of teaching standards through the introduction of computerand telemedicine technology.Rules of Ian Donald CoursesThe policy of Ian Donald courses includes invitation for at least 6 speakers selectedfrom the list of Ian Donald School directors, co-directors and directors of Nationalbranches. It also includes payment of travel expenses for invited speakers as all educationalcourses do in general. But the most realistic approach is to reduce the numberof invited speakers from abroad, to give them 3-4 lectures and to increase the numberof local high quality speakers.It has been agreed that from 2004 onward all courses under umbrella of Ian DonaldSchool should include annual subscription to Donald School Journal of Ultrasoundin Obstetrics and Gynecology (Yellow Journal) in the School fee. This is for the bestbenefit of the students and undoubtedly will increase quality of continuous education.33
