The predominant wind direction is from the south and west,as shown in Figure 3.3 (sourced from the Meteorological Office, Marine ConsultancyService, Bracknell), with easterly winds being least frequent.Calm periods are relatively infrequent with the majority of winds during summer rangingbetween Beaufort Force 4 and 5, which translates to wind speeds of between 20 and40kph respectively.Winds during winter months (November to March) may occur from any direction and arefrequently greater than Force 7 with maximum wind speeds reaching 160kph.3.2 Water Depth and Wave HeightsThe <strong>Don</strong> <strong>Field</strong> seabed gradually deepens to the west. A minimum depth of 163.5mLowest Astronomical Tide (LAT) occurs in the south-east and deepens to a maximumdepth of 166.3m LAT in the west.Background Information3-2 May 2011
