Under the leadership of John Ashworth, the FinishingDivision continued to strive for excellence. As a result, WayneBrothers won the Golden Trowel Award in 1998 and 1999, followedby the CAGC Pinnacle Award for Outstanding Subcontractor in2000.That experience and the company’s growing reputation forextremely flat, level floors resulted in its award of a concrete subcontractfor placement of the floor at WRAL Studios in Raleigh.The Finishing Division at WBI, headed by John Ashworth,was one of the first to regularly use Laser Screeds to improve thequality of its product. The use of a Laser Screed and constantmonitoring of the pour using a Dipstick® measuring device as itwas placed resulted in the 30,000-plus square foot floor placed atWRAL Studios being recognized as the flattest elevated concretefloor installed in the world that year.
