A section of 3rd Streetran through the very center of the proposed field. At thatpoint 3rd Street was a one-way street, three lanes wide, that carried inbound commuter traffic. In order to meet theneeds of commuters, two lanes were to be added to 4thStreet, thus resulting in two lanes for outbound traffic andtwo lanes for inbound traffic. WBI worked with its clientand local utilities to plan the widening, including planningrelocation of all utilities, installation of new storm drainage, curb and asphalt. Crews from Wayne Brothers removed 3rdStreet and crushed the demolished concrete on the site, using it as working base for the rest of the project, savingsome 800 tons of material from the landfill.
