WBI was also awardeda contract to assist with construction of the new NGKbuilding in Mooresville, North Carolina. Planning wasunderway to fulfill the complex and demanding scopeof work awarded on the Sierra Nevada Brewery in theAsheville, North Carolina area. Equally complex andchallenging was the work on the BB&T (Charlotte Knights)Stadium to be located in downtown Charlotte, in whichWBI would be combining its on-site development abilitieswith its concrete expertise. The Civil and InfrastructureGroup would not only be working on the Knights Stadiumbut secured a maintenance contract with Duke Energy, andexpanded its work in the duct bank installation area at anarea data center and solar farms. In the energy sector, theCraig Road project in Belews Creek completed a successfulmid-year portfolio of increasingly difficult opportunities.As WBI continued to deal with complex concreteconstruction projects, and to do so with good results,its profile also became increasingly visible. An article inEquipment Guide Magazine discussed the unique problemsolving necessary to satisfactorily complete the giantCaterpillar plant in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. TheUS Builders Review discussed WBI’s strengths and thecompany’s commitment to improve its delivery of highvalueservices to clients. Finally, various publications suchas Concrete Construction Magazine, Business NC, andSoutheast Top Specialty Contractors included WayneBrothers in their listings based on company revenues,providing a snapshot of the company’s steady rise throughthe ranks of specialty contractors, both in areas of sitework and concrete construction.WBI had no time to rest on its laurels, however. Aftermore than eighteen months, crews were completing theirremaining tasks on the Facebook Data Center in ForestCity, North Carolina. The initial contract had expanded sothat company crews completed two new buildings for thesocial media giant.
