Dit boek behandeld in detail veel van de technische
aspecten die vooral te maken hadden met het
boorproces van het Westerschelde tunnel project. In
totaal 18 hoofdstukken, zeer leesbaar (in het engels)
beschreven door verschillende experts, geven een goed
beeld van het project op een redelijk technisch niveau.
Vooral hoofdstuk 11 (“The boring and tunnelling
proces”, door Sonke, Roepius en Stouten) geeft een
goed beeld van wat er vooral allemaal mis is gegaan,
maar nog interessanter, hoe de problemen zijn opgelost.
Ook de geotechnische aspecten komen aan bod in een
apart hoofdstuk geschreven door Martin van Staveren
van GeoDelft. Al met al, een fascinerend en leerzaam
naslagwerk over een van de grotere infrastructurele
werken in Nederland van de afgelopen 10 jaar. Een erg
aantrekkelijk boek voor in de boekenkast of op de
koffietafel.

the monitoring of dams to vibrations from the demolition

the geological conditions are also very variable.
The Measurement technology theme contains very
specific articles, for example about specific measuring
equipment. There are also articles in this theme with a
more general character, for example about measuring
stress in concrete.
In the Planning, administration and quality assurance
theme, monitoring is the main subject. There are articles
about particular monitoring projects as well as articles,
which describe monitoring procedures.
