beginselen van de geomorfologie aardig aan de
scholieren worden uit gelegd. Na een door de TU
verzorgde lunch vertrokken de leerlingen naar de
volgende workshop bij een andere faculteit en werd er
een nieuwe groep scholieren ontvangen. De grote
verschillen tussen de groepen maakte het een leuke
uitdaging. De DIG kijkt terug op een geslaagde week
die zeker voor herhaling vatbaar is.
Plannen
Naar het einde van dit studiejaar toe is het de bedoeling
om tenminste nog één bedrijfsbezoek te organiseren.
Daarnaast is de DIG bezig met een studiereis naar
Duitsland. De mogelijkheid om dit in augustus van dit
jaar plaats te laten vinden wordt bekeken. Van 9 mei tot
4 juni zal het veldwerk in Cambrils (Spanje) ook weer
beoefend worden. Vierde jaar Ingenieursgeologie
studenten van de TU Delft samen met de studenten
van het ITC zullen hieraan deelnemen. Net als
voorgaande jaren zal het programma bestaan uit een
ingenieursgeologische kartering van een gebied, een
‘Slope Stability’ analyse en enkele excursies. Voor eind
april hebben we het voornemen om met een excursie de
Noord-Zuidlijn in Amsterdam te bezoeken.

een kleine update, weer alle ontwikkelingen te volgen!

When you are looking for rock and soil properties, you
can look in a classic textbook or in your company’s
database. On the Internet however, there are many free
online databases one can query. In most cases the
database are designed and supported by geological
surveys or universities. A few surf suggestions
concerning rock/soil properties are given below, but of
course there’s more to explore.

The Canadian Geological Survey has tested the
compressional (Vp) and shear (Vs) wave velocity of
over 1000 rock samples from around the world. “The
samples include a wide variety of igneous, metamorphic
and sedimentary rocks from the continental and oceanic
crust, plus a large suite of ores provided by the mining
industry. The velocity measurements were made at room
temperature and hydrostatic confining pressures
ranging from 10 Mpa to 1 Gpa using the pulse
transmission technique”.

The company RocScience introduced a new database
RocProp, especially for the geotechnical engineer. This
is an online database in which users can enter their own
data (these data will be evaluated of course) and help
building the database. This database is not freely
accessible; you will need to buy the software from
RocScience.
