ProForm ® BRAND Surfacer/Primer DESCRIPTION ProForm ® BRAND Surfacer/Primer is a high-build interior coating designed for use with airless sprayers. It is used in lieu of a skim coat and primer coat to provide a high quality Level 5 finish in one spray application. This coating hides minor surface imperfections and is also an ideal finish for smooth ceilings. 5 gallon pail (18.9 liters). RECOMMENDATIONS Surfaces to be coated must be dry, structurally sound and free of dust, dirt, grease, mildew, efforesence, and all other surface contamination. Stir thoroughly before use. Apply by airless sprayer, suitable for high-build coatings. Spray at packaged consistency. The airless sprayer should be capable of delivering a volume of more than 1 gallon per minute at up to 3,000 psi. Remove all in-line filters. Use a 3/8" ID high-pressure airless material hose to allow more efficient material transfer and a .021 to .023 airless tip at 2,200 to 3,000 psi. Test the spray pattern prior to application. To apply to gypsum wallboard, hold spray gun perpendicular to the surface approximately 18" to 24" from surface. Keep the gun at right angles to the surface. The key to a successful application is to apply an even coat over the entire surface. This requires moving your entire arm back and forth, rather than just flexing your wrist. The spray gun should be triggered by turning it on and off with each stroke. This will save paint and avoid paint buildup at the end of each stroke. Overlap each stroke by 50% over the previous stroke for uniform paint thickness. Apply product in a crosshatch pattern. This requires applying an initial coat spraying from left to right to approximately half the desired thickness (6-7 wet mils), then crosshatch spray up and down to desired thickness (total 12-14 wet mils). Do not apply by roller or “back-roll” after spray application. This product can be applied at higher wet films (up to 30 wet mils) if necessary to mask or reduce a greater level of imperfections. The applicator should try to achieve uniform coverage and a slight “orange peel” appearance. This product can be applied to uncoated drywall down to 35˚F if surface and air temperatures do not fall below 35˚F for 48 hours following application. Allow 4 to 6 hours (70˚F/50% relative humidity) of drying before topcoating with conventional latex paints. Allow 12 to 16 hours of drying before topcoating with alkyd paints or aromatic solvent based coatings such as epoxy. Dry time may vary based on temperature, humidity or thickness of application. To achieve a smoother finish, surface may be sanded after product has completely dried. Use nothing coarser than a 150 grit sandpaper or a 220 grit abrasive mesh cloth for sanding. For use on other substrates than gypsum wallboard, apply ProForm Surfacer/Primer per previous instructions over these substrates that are properly prepared and primed as follows: Poured Masonry: Allow poured masonry to cure a minimum of 30 days. Apply Water-based Acrylic Primer or Conditioner with high alkali-resistance; Brick: Allow newly laid brick to cure 30 days. Apply Water-based, Stain-Blocking Acrylic Primer; Concrete Block (CMU): Allow newly laid concrete block to cure 30 days. It is recommended that ProForm Surfacer/Primer be applied over uncoated concrete block by “spray, back-roll, and back-spray” method. First, apply by airless spray, then “back-roll” the coating to force it into any cracks or voids. Then immediately “back-spray” the coating, and do not engage in any further application technique; Surfaces Previously Covered with Wallpaper: Remove as much of the old paste as possible. Apply Interior Alkyd (oil-based) Enamel Undercoater, or a Water- Based Stain Blocking Acrylic Primer can be used if remaining old paste residue is minimal; Glossy and All Previously Painted Surfaces: Apply Interior Alkyd (oil-based) Enamel Undercoater or Water-Based Bonding Primer; Incidental Wood Surfaces: Apply Interior Alkyd (oilbased) Enamel Undercoater or Water-based Acrylic Primer with tannic-acid bleed resistance. DECORATION Surface may be painted after overnight drying. Adhere strictly to appropriate manufacturer’s directions for surface preparation, painting TECHNICAL DATA and decorating. Such manufacturers should be consulted if decorating problems arise. LIMITATIONS • Dries to a slight “orange peel” appearance. • For use by professionals. • Experimentation and test application are recommended. • Protect from freezing and exposure to extreme heat and direct sunlight, conditions that will cause premature aging of the product. • Do not apply by roller or “back-roll” after spray application on gypsum wallboard and most other substrates. Coverage will vary based on substrate condition and spraying techniques. % Solids by Weight: 71± 2% % Solids by Volume: 50±2% VOC/VOS: .55 lbs/gal or 66 g/L Reduction: Thinning is not recommended. ProForm ® BRAND Texture Products DESCRIPTION 09 29 00/NGC BUYLINE 1100 ProForm BRAND Perfect Spray A decorative texture product for fast spray application to interior ceiling surfaces. Its shredded polystyrene aggregate gives this texturing product greater whiteness, better hide and bold accent. Recommended for interior ceilings that are formed of new or previously painted gypsum wallboard or monolithic concrete or plaster. Available coarse, medium, and fine (40 lb. bag). ProForm BRAND Perfect Spray II The commercial/ residential formulation of Perfect Spray is a competitively-priced interior ceiling texture. Its white appearance effectively hides minor surface defects and irregularities (40 lb. bag). PROFORM BRAND PERFECT SPRAY TEXTURE–FINE PROFORM BRAND SPRAY QUICK TEXTURE–FINE PROFORM BRAND PERFECT SPRAY EM/HF - ORANGE PEEL ProForm BRAND Spray Quick A white spray texture product recommended for interior ceilings that are formed of new or previously painted gypsum boards or monolithic concrete or plaster. Available coarse, medium, and fine (40 lb. bag). ProForm BRAND Perfect Spray EM – Perfect Spray HF Perfect Spray EM and Perfect Spray HF are a nonaggregated texture product used to create a wide range of wall surfaces.When used in conjunction with textured ceilings Perfect Spray EM and Perfect Spray HF can be applied without overspray affecting the ceiling previously sprayed with (aggregated) Perfect Spray or Spray Quick. By adjusting mixture consistency and/or varying the atomizing pressure, Gold Bond Perfect Spray EM and Perfect Spray HF create an almost endless variety of textures, the most typical of which are Spray Spatter, Spatter Knockdown and Orange Peel. Surfaces can be finished with a coat of paint. Perfect Spray EM (nonaggregated) is specially formulated for easy mixing and easy pumping and is available in 50 lb. bags. Perfect Spray HF mixes and pumps easily and dries to a harder finish. Perfect Spray HF is available in 40 lb. bags.
