Conservation
The management committee continues to support
the conservation and maintenance of the collection
by allocating up to 25% of its annual income from
the Endowment Fund and from interest earned for
conservation treatments. In 2010–11 the committee
funded:
• treatment of two oil paintings at the Centre for
Cultural Materials Conservation at the University of
Melbourne
• repairs to, and maintenance of two clocks; and minor
repairs to two items of furniture
• the design and construction of seven custom-made
storage boxes for rare and fragile photographic material
• a conservation assessment of 150 items and groups of
items in the manuscript collection.
Management
Committee
The Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts
Management Committee held three meetings in
2010–11, on 29 July 2010, 1 December 2010 and
17 March 2011.
Membership of the committee has remained unchanged.
It comprises:
• Mr John Upcher, chairperson (nominated by the
trustees of the estate of Henry Allport)
• Ms Amanda Wojtowicz (nominated by the trustees of
the estate of Henry Allport)
• Dr AV (Tony) Brown, a Trustee of the Tasmanian
Museum and Art Gallery (nominated by the Board of
Trustees)
• Dr Keith Adkins (appointed by the Minister for
Education)
• Ms Siobhan Gaskell, Director, Community Knowledge
Network (nominated by the Secretary of the
Department of Education).
