DRIVERS EDUCATION<br />
Driver Education is a LIFE SKILL class. There is no substitute for<br />
the student-teacher interaction, discussion, video analysis, <strong>and</strong><br />
instant feedback that takes place in the classroom. This course meets<br />
the State of California requirement to obtain a driver’s instruction<br />
permit. The class is 30 hours long <strong>and</strong> does not include behind the<br />
wheel instruction. Upon completion of this course student will<br />
receive a Certificate of Completion of Classroom Driver Education.<br />
Students must attend all sessions in order to receive the DMV<br />
Completion Certificate. Students must be at least 141/2 years to get<br />
an instruction permit. A lunch break is provided. Please bring a bag<br />

FENCING - TEEN/ADULT INTRO<br />
Everyone enjoys playing with lightweight flexible swords, <strong>and</strong><br />
fencing is one of the safest, most rewarding sports available.<br />
Everyone should have at least an introduction to this modern<br />
Olympic sport <strong>and</strong> the art of science of swordplay; classes for all age<br />
groups from ages 5 to 80, boys <strong>and</strong> girls. This intro class emphasizes<br />
<strong>fun</strong> while learning the basics of the sport. The 3 class session prepares<br />
you to join the beginning class level if you wish to continue;<br />
we play <strong>fun</strong> developmental games, do paired drills, <strong>and</strong> you will<br />
fence each day! You will learn basic rules, safety <strong>and</strong> manners of the<br />
sport, <strong>and</strong> actions on the blades while developing <strong>and</strong> maintaining<br />
physical <strong>and</strong> mental fitness, self-discipline <strong>and</strong> great sportsmanship<br />
skills. All rental equipment fees are included; wear shorts or sweat<br />
pants, t-shirt, <strong>and</strong> lace up athletic shoes. The CFA coaches are professionally<br />
trained <strong>and</strong> certified instructors <strong>and</strong> fencing masters. All<br />
classes are held at CA Fencing Academy, 5289 F Prospect Road,<br />

FILM MAKING- AFTERNOON<br />
CAMP FOR TEENS<br />
Watching a film is magic <strong>and</strong> making a film is like being<br />
a magician! We’re going to write, film/record <strong>and</strong> produce<br />
a film that can be viewed on the Internet. Students will<br />
break into groups <strong>and</strong>, with a mini DV camcorder, make films!<br />
When we’re done, we’ll have a film premiere of our films <strong>and</strong> you<br />
can invite you family <strong>and</strong> friends. You will learn that it takes many<br />
people doing many different jobs with a common vision to make a<br />
film. Learn about computer programs such as Windows Movie<br />
Maker, iMovie, audio tracks, panning, tilting, jump cuts, establishing<br />
shots, special effects, scene transitions, release forms, location<br />
forms, camcorders, pop corn, Red Carpets, <strong>and</strong> much more.<br />
Bring a notebook, pencil, lots of ideas <strong>and</strong> cooperation. A lab fee<br />
of $50 is payable to the instructor at the first class. All computers<br />

maker who has completed several documentaries <strong>and</strong> music videos.<br />
He has taught this class for schools in Menlo Park <strong>and</strong> Portola Valley.<br />
GETTING INTO AND AFFORDING<br />
THE BEST COLLEGES<br />
This session is designed for parents <strong>and</strong> high school students<br />
determined to get into the very best college possible<br />
<strong>and</strong> paying for it with the minimum impact on family<br />
finances. There is considerable confusion, misinformation <strong>and</strong><br />
crazy myths about how to get into <strong>and</strong> then afford great colleges.<br />
With over 3,000 colleges across the country, there are many that are<br />
a great fit for any student willing <strong>and</strong> determined to play the college<br />
game. This session will cram a whole bunch of information that you<br />
can use from professionals that work with dozens of families each<br />
year. We discuss information like how private colleges may cost you<br />
less than public colleges, how the affluent can obtain financial aid<br />
<strong>and</strong> how the 5.5 year graduation timeframe can impact your family<br />
finances. Come learn how to get into the best colleges by working<br />
every angle available within the rules.<br />

GUITAR- BEGINNING<br />
Learn chords <strong>and</strong> songs along with various rhythm strumming<br />
techniques. Introduction to cross picking, flat picking <strong>and</strong> some <strong>fun</strong><br />
shortcuts. American Roots Music styles touching on Old Time, Folk,<br />
Rock Roots, Country <strong>and</strong> Bluegrass. Students must bring their own<br />
guitars. Six string with light gauge, or nylon folk style guitar is recommended.<br />
Adults <strong>and</strong> students 14+ are welcome. Materials fee of<br />
$10 due to the instructor at the first class. No class 7/3.<br />

If you can play songs <strong>and</strong> want to learn new strumming patterns<br />
<strong>and</strong> rhythm bass runs, along with Cross Picking <strong>and</strong> Flat Picking<br />
techniques, join Doug for some <strong>fun</strong>. Students will bring in songs to<br />
play. Country, Bluegrass, Country Rock, Folk <strong>and</strong> Americana styles<br />
will be the focus. Adults <strong>and</strong> students 14+ are welcome. Materials<br />
fee of $10 payable to the instructor at the first class. No class 7/3.<br />
