DRIVERS EDUCATION
Driver Education is a LIFE SKILL class. There is no substitute for
the student-teacher interaction, discussion, video analysis, and
instant feedback that takes place in the classroom. This course meets
the State of California requirement to obtain a driver’s instruction
permit. The class is 30 hours long and does not include behind the
wheel instruction. Upon completion of this course student will
receive a Certificate of Completion of Classroom Driver Education.
Students must attend all sessions in order to receive the DMV
Completion Certificate. Students must be at least 141/2 years to get
an instruction permit. A lunch break is provided. Please bring a bag

FENCING - TEEN/ADULT INTRO
Everyone enjoys playing with lightweight flexible swords, and
fencing is one of the safest, most rewarding sports available.
Everyone should have at least an introduction to this modern
Olympic sport and the art of science of swordplay; classes for all age
groups from ages 5 to 80, boys and girls. This intro class emphasizes
fun while learning the basics of the sport. The 3 class session prepares
you to join the beginning class level if you wish to continue;
we play fun developmental games, do paired drills, and you will
fence each day! You will learn basic rules, safety and manners of the
sport, and actions on the blades while developing and maintaining
physical and mental fitness, self-discipline and great sportsmanship
skills. All rental equipment fees are included; wear shorts or sweat
pants, t-shirt, and lace up athletic shoes. The CFA coaches are professionally
trained and certified instructors and fencing masters. All
classes are held at CA Fencing Academy, 5289 F Prospect Road,
San Jose at the cross streets of Saratoga, Prospect, and Lawrence
Expwy. The Academy is located in Westgate-West Shopping

FILM MAKING- AFTERNOON
CAMP FOR TEENS
Watching a film is magic and making a film is like being
a magician! We’re going to write, film/record and produce
a film that can be viewed on the Internet. Students will
break into groups and, with a mini DV camcorder, make films!
When we’re done, we’ll have a film premiere of our films and you
can invite you family and friends. You will learn that it takes many
people doing many different jobs with a common vision to make a
film. Learn about computer programs such as Windows Movie
Maker, iMovie, audio tracks, panning, tilting, jump cuts, establishing
shots, special effects, scene transitions, release forms, location
forms, camcorders, pop corn, Red Carpets, and much more.
Bring a notebook, pencil, lots of ideas and cooperation. A lab fee
of $50 is payable to the instructor at the first class. All computers

maker who has completed several documentaries and music videos.

GETTING INTO AND AFFORDING
THE BEST COLLEGES
This session is designed for parents and high school students
determined to get into the very best college possible
and paying for it with the minimum impact on family
finances. There is considerable confusion, misinformation and
crazy myths about how to get into and then afford great colleges.
With over 3,000 colleges across the country, there are many that are
a great fit for any student willing and determined to play the college
game. This session will cram a whole bunch of information that you
can use from professionals that work with dozens of families each
year. We discuss information like how private colleges may cost you
less than public colleges, how the affluent can obtain financial aid
and how the 5.5 year graduation timeframe can impact your family
finances. Come learn how to get into the best colleges by working
every angle available within the rules.

GUITAR- BEGINNING
Learn chords and songs along with various rhythm strumming
techniques. Introduction to cross picking, flat picking and some fun
shortcuts. American Roots Music styles touching on Old Time, Folk,
Rock Roots, Country and Bluegrass. Students must bring their own
guitars. Six string with light gauge, or nylon folk style guitar is recommended.
Adults and students 14+ are welcome. Materials fee of
$10 due to the instructor at the first class. No class 7/3.

GUITAR- INTERMEDIATE LEVEL I
If you can play songs and want to learn new strumming patterns
and rhythm bass runs, along with Cross Picking and Flat Picking
techniques, join Doug for some fun. Students will bring in songs to
play. Country, Bluegrass, Country Rock, Folk and Americana styles
will be the focus. Adults and students 14+ are welcome. Materials
fee of $10 payable to the instructor at the first class. No class 7/3.
