knowing what to do in difficult situations, <strong>and</strong> much more.<br />

PHOTOGRAPHY-INTERMEDIATE<br />

PORTRAITURE<br />

Taking top quality portraits is easy <strong>and</strong> <strong>fun</strong>! This class New!<br />

teaches you to produce professional people pictures using<br />

the same techniques the pros use in the studio <strong>and</strong> on location.<br />

Students will learn how to acquire <strong>and</strong> use reasonably<br />

priced lighting equipment to build a temporary home studio <strong>and</strong> a<br />

location shooting kit. Various lighting styles <strong>and</strong> shooting situations<br />

will be demonstrated. Students will get basic assignments during<br />

the first two meetings <strong>and</strong> show their results in class. If you’ve ever<br />

wanted to take pictures for weddings, families, newspapers or books,<br />

this class is essential. Take your photography to a new level. This<br />

is the follow up course to Getting Great Portraits” <strong>and</strong> Basic<br />

Portraiture” offered by Jeffery Luhn. If you haven’t taken either<br />

YOUTH PROGRAMS<br />

SEWING -ADVANCED<br />

TECHNIQUES<br />

Students who are taking this class should have completed the previous<br />

Sewing Basics Level I class or should have basic sewing skills<br />

<strong>and</strong> be familiar with using a sewing machine <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />

patterns. Sewing machines are provided, however, it is beneficial to<br />

learn on your own machine. This is a ‘ skills building’ class, weekly<br />

attendance is very important, there is no makeup for missed classes.<br />

Students 12 <strong>and</strong> older may enroll if accompanied by an adult who<br />

is present at each class to assist the student with their project. A $10<br />

lab fee will be due the second day of class payable to the instructor.<br />

The first class meeting will be from 6:30-8:30PM at a local fabric<br />

store, usually Hancock Fabric on Blossom Hill Road. E-mail<br />

Feather at ftippetts@equineperformance.com for confirmation<br />

of the store location at least two days before class. Students will<br />

be assisted in choosing the fabric <strong>and</strong> supplies for one or two projects<br />

to complete in the class. Classes 2-6 will be from 6:30-9:00PM<br />

at LGHS Kitchen #100. NO CLASS: 7/31.<br />

Instructor: Feather Tippetts. is a historical costumer who has<br />

created costumes for movie, television, theatre <strong>and</strong> private clients.<br />

She draws on her extensive experience to teach students modern<br />

sewing techniques <strong>and</strong> professional shortcuts used in the garment<br />

industry.<br />

WATERCOLOR PAINTING<br />

DURING THE DAY-ALL LEVELS<br />

The focus of this watercolor class is to help you enjoy the painting<br />

process in a warm <strong>and</strong> supportive atmosphere. Whether you are a<br />

beginner or someone who wants to improve their skills, this class is for<br />

you.Valerie will cover topics such as color, value, design principles <strong>and</strong><br />

more. There will be a lot of individualized instruction along with lectures<br />

<strong>and</strong> demonstrations. A materials list will be printed on your registration<br />

receipt,faxed upon request or found on our web site,<br />

www.lgsrecreation.org. Go to Classes/Adults/Art And Design.<br />

Parking passes will be h<strong>and</strong>ed out at the first class. Please bring<br />

painting supplies to first class.Drop-in option: $20 per class meeting.<br />

The focus of this evening watercolor class will be on improving your<br />

current skills for those who have some experience or, if you are just<br />

beginning, learning basic watercolor techniques. Jolene works with<br />

each person’s individual preferences <strong>and</strong> goals. You will learn to plan<br />

your composition, <strong>and</strong> then paint in your own personal style. Jolene<br />

has a <strong>fun</strong>, relaxed teaching style that makes your painting experience<br />

enjoyable <strong>and</strong> stress free. Students 14 <strong>and</strong> older may register if<br />

accompanied by an adult. Approximate cost for materials for class<br />

is $75. Materials list will be printed on the registration receipt,<br />
