TAE KWON DO<br />
Tae Kwon Do uses physical techniques to strengthen the body <strong>and</strong><br />
improve coordination <strong>and</strong> timing; emphasis on the philosophy <strong>and</strong><br />
the development of concentration strengthen the mind <strong>and</strong> improve<br />
mental attitudes. Please wear loose comfortable clothing or a gi; the<br />
latter can be purchased at the studio. Classes located at All-Pro Tae<br />

TAI CHI CHUAN I<br />
This introductory course is for students of all ages <strong>and</strong> abilities who<br />
are curious to learn more about Tai Chi. Focus is on the first seven<br />
movements of the Yang Style Long Form, which are then tied into<br />
a self-contained <strong>and</strong> complete practice that students can do at<br />
home. In addition, the course introduces the history of Tai Chi, a<br />
set of qigong warm-ups, a number of Tai Chi basic exercises, partner<br />
practices, <strong>and</strong> health tips from a Chinese medicine perspective. Tai<br />
Chi is originally a martial art, <strong>and</strong> while this class primarily focuses<br />
on its health benefits, applications of the movements for everyday<br />
self-defense are introduced.<br />
Instructor: John Christiansen. has practiced Yang <strong>and</strong> Chen style<br />
Tai Chi Chuan for over 13 years <strong>and</strong> taught for more than 7 years.<br />
TAI CHI CHUAN II<br />
This course is open to students who have completed a beginning<br />
Tai Chi class or know the first section of the Yang Style Form. This<br />
is an ongoing class that meets year-round where students learn the<br />
complete 108 movement Yang Style Long Form. Continuing students<br />
have the option of deepening their underst<strong>and</strong>ing of Tai Chi<br />
by working on advanced basic exercises, applications, <strong>and</strong> with partners.<br />
Introductions to Chen style Tai Chi Chuan <strong>and</strong> stick practices<br />
are available to more advanced <strong>and</strong> committed students.<br />

TAI CHI FOR LIFE -<br />
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED<br />
Whole body movement: Tai Chi is a soft, internal energy martial art.<br />
It promotes balance, health, <strong>and</strong> relaxation. The class covers Qigong<br />
warm-ups, the Tai Chi stance principles, the short long integrated<br />
form applications, <strong>and</strong> partner work. The individual begins learning<br />
the basics <strong>and</strong> the form. Partner work/contact happens only when<br />
the student is comfortable with it <strong>and</strong> is approached without force.<br />
Wear comfortable clothing. Drop in option, $13 per class, payable<br />
to instructor, space permitting. NO CLASS: 7/2 or 9/3.<br />

TAI CHI FOR LIFE-BEGINNING<br />
Learn new ways to RELAX, REVITALIZE, <strong>and</strong> HAVE FUN. Tai Chi<br />
is flowing, gentle, <strong>and</strong> slow movement. It helps with balance,<br />
strength, <strong>and</strong> mental focus. STANDING MASSAGE included. Dress<br />
comfortably. Drop in option, $13 per class, payable to instructor,<br />
space permitting. NO CLASS: 9/3<br />

❂ FITNESS<br />
THAI BOXING<br />
Thai Boxing, or Muay Thai, is a great cardiovascular endurance<br />
exercises that utilizes basic foundation practices of shadow boxing<br />
<strong>and</strong> strength while learning the skills necessary to punch, kick, knee<br />
<strong>and</strong> elbow with authority. Class will begin with focus on techniques<br />
in movement <strong>and</strong> strength building, then teach the perfecting of<br />
these techniques using strikes against pads. Participants will learn<br />
to strengthen core muscles <strong>and</strong> defend yourself while getting a great<br />
cardio workout. Students can expect rapid development in health,<br />
strength <strong>and</strong> self-defense techniques; Muay Thai is a nationally recognized<br />
sport in Thail<strong>and</strong>. Minimum number of 3 participants to<br />
conduct session; register early! Classes located at All-Pro Tae<br />

YOGA I<br />
Join us in a noncompetitive environment <strong>and</strong> learn the <strong>fun</strong>damentals<br />
of yoga asanas, breathing, relaxation <strong>and</strong> meditation. Wear comfortable,<br />
layered clothing that you can move in. Do not eat prior to<br />
class. Bring a sticky mat, if you have one. Come prepared to have<br />
<strong>fun</strong>, relax, get fit <strong>and</strong> learn in a supportive community class. Dropin<br />
option, $14 per class, space permitting.<br />

YOGA II<br />
Be familiar with the basics <strong>and</strong> ready to work more deeply <strong>and</strong> for<br />
longer periods in the postures <strong>and</strong> meditation. Underst<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
practice prana vidya, ujayi, yogic three part breath. Be able to identify<br />
the eight limbs of yoga <strong>and</strong> how they relate to you <strong>and</strong> your<br />
life(or not. Be willing to actively practice these principles outside<br />
the classroom. Pre-requisites: Yoga I or enroll with permission<br />
from instructor. Drop-in option $14 per class, space permitting.<br />

YOGA IN THE AFTERNOON, I & II<br />
YOGA IN THE AFTERNOON is a combination of Yoga I <strong>and</strong> II.<br />
YOGA I (BEGINNING): Learn basic Hatha Yoga <strong>and</strong> ways to adapt<br />
it to your own personal fitness level. Enjoy stretching, breathing,<br />
strengthening <strong>and</strong> finding a deep level of relaxation. YOGA II: Move<br />
further into your own personal practice <strong>through</strong> faith, self-discipline,<br />
concentration <strong>and</strong> patience. Class is co-sponsored with the<br />
City of Saratoga Recreation. Drop in option, $20 per class. Wear<br />
loose, layered clothing. Do not eat just prior to class. Mats are provided.<br />
Please bring a large towel. NO CLASS: 7/2<br />

YOGA/MEDITATION<br />
